Vacaville, Solano County
The Nut Tree began in 1921 as a fruit stand under a walnut tree beside the highway in Vacaville and grew into one of the most familiar roadside stops in California, with a restaurant, toy shop and miniature railroad. The original closed in 1996. A shopping center now carries the name, along with a restored carousel and train for children.
